# Inventory logs

When sending inventory data to the server, agents also generate I**nventory logs**, based on the configured **log level**.\
These logs help monitor incoming inventories and detect potential issues.

Adjusting the log level can be useful when troubleshooting inventory or communication problems between agents and the server. However, since logs can become quite verbose, it’s recommended to set the log level according to your diagnostic needs.

## Viewing Inventory logs

Inventory logs can be accessed from their dedicated page, which displays **all logs for every device**, or directly from an **asset’s detail page** for a filtered view.

* **From the Inventory logs page**: Go to **Inventory** **→ Tools → Inventory logs.**
* **From an asset's detail page**: Open the asset’s details, then click the **file icon** at the top right.\
  You’ll be redirected to a **filtered view** showing only that asset’s logs.

## Configuration

By default, the configured log level is **Error**. To update it, follow these instructions:

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://documentation.ocsinventory-ng.org/administrator-docs/server-setup/configuration/advanced/inventory-logs.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
